ORI staff sort books
at the Day of Caring
Adopt-a-road staff volunteers |
ORI employees have many interests, and we take every opportunity to
play a larger role in our local and world communities. We participate
in the local Adopt-a-Road program and have a dedicated group of employee
volunteers who clean up our three-mile stretch of road every six months.
We volunteer for the United Way Day of Caring every year and have had
opportunities in this capacity to do some gardening, book sorting, and
packing of frozen corn for distribution to local food banks. We make
quarterly donations to the blood bank and annual donations to charities.
Employees are able to make contributions to charitable agencies associated
with Earth Share of Oregon, the Black United Fund, and the United Way
via monthly payroll deductions.
In
addition to these activities, we are a valuable
resource for the local media, and we work to bring our research results to practitioners who can use our
interventions with their patients. We host an annual Research to Practice Conference for mental health practitioners, teachers, and policy-makers
from around the state of Oregon. The 2009 Research to Practice Conference will be in October.
