Family fun at the ORI Picnic

ORI’s unofficial motto over the years has been “Work Hard, Play Hard” and, in addition to working hard on our science, we work hard to maintain a vital, dynamic, and fun workplace. We have many social events throughout the year, including holiday parties, a whitewater raft trip, wildflower walks, and monthly birthday lunches. Occasional talent shows are held and the skit presented at the Annual Meeting is famous for its parodies of life at ORI.

We believe that supporting employees in balancing work and family results in a more productive, effective organization. We acknowledge that our employees lead busy lives outside of ORI .We offer flexible spending accounts for child and elder care costs, flexible working hours, job sharing, and the ability for employees to donate sick leave to other employees. Children and pets are often present and welcome in the workplace. Additionally, we have an on-site gym and offer on-site massage, yoga, and Tai Chi. We have quarterly art exhibits throughout the buildings. And once a year, children of employees are invited to submit art for the workplace walls, and a reception is held for the young artists and their families.

Children First of Oregon has consistently recognized us for being one of the top family-friendly employers in the state. Additionally, ORI was named the best large company to work for in Lane County, and was ranked 13th overall in the 2009 Oregon 100 Best Companies survey.
