Research Interests

Etiology and treatment of unipolar depression.

My current research has four main foci:

1. Identification of children, adolescents, and young and older adults who are at elevated risk for depression (unipolar and bipolar) and suicidal behavior;

2. Bridging the gaps between (a) longitudinal risk factor research and the design of intervention to prevent depression in high risk persons;

3. Identification of adolescent risk factors for substance abuse during young adulthood.

4. Developing a research program on the etiology of eating disorders in children/adolescents and young adults.
