What We Do
“Here, brainy people, working in the proper atmosphere, go quietly about their task of finding out what makes us tick.”
--Eugene Register Guard, August 29, 1965
Since 1960, ORI scientists have carefully studied a wide range of healthy and unhealthy human behaviors and the processes that influence these behaviors. Using this knowledge, we are able to design programs to promote health and well-being. Our research fosters greater understanding of the causes, prevention, and treatment of social and medical problems, ultimately enhancing quality of life and productivity for people of all ages. Our work directly affects everyone by providing effective tools for better health and education.
