Functional MR Imaging (fMRI)

Functional MR Imaging (fMRI)  is a noninvasive test for learning how a brain is working. During a fMRI scan, pictures are being taken of the brain. In Project BFG we would like to examine if people are different in the way that their brains’ respond to food and money. The scanning will take place at the Lewis Center for Neuroimaging at the University of Oregon.

We will ask you to do a couple of tasks when you are lying down in the scanner. During the scanning it is very important to lie as still as possible from head to toe. Before you go into the scanner you will be thoroughly checked for any metal that may be on your body. We will also explain to you what you can expect and what you need to do when you are being scanned.
