Project Milkshake Outline

There will be six or seven visits over the course of the study (4 years) and for participating you can receive up to $365! Each visit consists of an interview, a survey and you will be asked to complete a body composition assessment in the Bod Pod.

During your first assessment we will also ask you to provide a saliva sample. This saliva sample will be used to look at genes and you need to do a drug test and girls need to do a pregnancy test. The first visit will also involve a resting metabolic rate procedure and the collection of four urine samples. Exactly two weeks later you need to come back for two additional urine samples and a survey.  The first assessment will take about 5 hours to complete and you can receive up to $50 for completing this assessment. You can receive up to $75 when you return to the lab two weeks later for the two additional urine samples.

During the second assessment you will be asked to complete a computer test and a brain scan. The brain scan will be done at the Lewis Centre of Neuroimaging (LCNI) at the University of Oregon. While you are in the scanner we will take pictures of your brain while you complete different tasks. This second assessment will take about 3 hours and you can receive up to $75.

During the three annual follow-up visits we will ask you to complete a survey, interview and the Bod Pod again. For completing these assessments you will receive $30 each.
Some participants will also be asked to do a brain scan again. Participants will receive $100 when completing this second scan.
