What is the Triple P Parenting Media Study?

The Triple P Parenting Media study is a collaborative project of Oregon Research Institute in Eugene, Oregon, the University of Queensland Parenting and Family Support Centre in Brisbane, Australia, and Triple P International in Brisbane, Australia. In the Triple P Parenting Media study, we are developing and testing a video-based approach to helping parents learn effective parenting strategies for encouraging positive behavior in their children and reducing problem behaviors. The video series is based on the award-winning Triple P Program Positive Parenting Program. Triple P has been shown in numerous scientific studies around the world to help parents gain confidence in their parenting, become more effective parents, and help their children succeed. This study is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

The Triple P Parenting Media study is directed by Carol W. Metzler, Ph.D. at Oregon Research Institute, in collaboration with Matthew R. Sanders, Ph.D. and Karen M.T. Turner, Ph.D. at the University of Queensland and Julie C. Rusby, Ph.D. at Oregon Research Institute.

How you might benefit from the Triple P Parenting Media Study

Raising a young child can be full of joys and wonders. But it can be full of frustrations and challenges, too, especially when your child is disobedient, aggressive, or tantruming.

Families who qualify for the Triple P Parenting Media Study will receive - FREE of charge - the 10-episode Triple P Parenting Media Series. This video series will help you learn how to:

  • Deal effectively with problem behaviors when they occur, such as disobedience, fighting, tantrums, bedtime problems, and shopping problems
  • Build a supportive family environment and a more positive relationship with your child
  • Encourage behavior you like, and
  • Teach your children the skills they need to get along with others.
As a participant in the study, you would watch the 10 episodes (12 - 15 minutes each) in the privacy of your own home. AND, you would receive up to $260 for participating in the assessments.
