We are thrilled to announce that Decision Research (DR) will be joining Oregon Research Institute (ORI) as a center within ORI.  Decision Research, founded in 1976 by Paul Slovic, Baruch Fischhoff, and the late Sarah Lichtenstein, is renowned for its scientific and applied contributions in the areas of judgment and decision making, risk analysis, and the cognitive and emotional factors affecting preference. Joining ORI are founder Paul Slovic and DR scientists Bill Burns, Robin Gregory, Branden Johnson, Robert Mauro, and Scott Slovic.

ORI and DR scientists look forward to close collaborations combining ORI’s knowledge of behavioral health change and effective educational practices and DR’s expertise in personal and societal judgment and decision making. This partnership will help us to tackle complex societal challenges, such as public health, climate change, health and educational disparities, teaching effective decision-making, genocide, nuclear war, compassion, disinformation, automation and artificial intelligence, risk policy, and homeland security.

By combining the cutting-edge research capabilities of Oregon Research Institute with the renowned decision science expertise of Decision Research, we aim to advance our understanding of human behavior and decision-making processes, and to shape their impact on society.
