Recruitment open for an investigational medication trial for treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

Study Details

Researchers at the Oregon Research Institute (ORI) are recruiting for a study funded by Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc. that evaluates whether a new investigational medication (milsaperidone) safely and effectively improves depressive symptoms when taken alongside current medication.

The study is looking for people who are:

  • 18 to 65 years old
  • Diagnosed with major depressive disorder
  • Currently experiencing a serious depressive episode
  • Currently taking an antidepressant medication with partial response

What participants can expect:

  • If eligible, participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the study medication or a placebo for 6 weeks.
  • After 6 weeks, all study participants can optionally continue taking the study medication for one year.
  • Routine mental and physical health checks, including blood draws, will be performed.
  • There will be up to 19 visits (depending on whether participants enroll in the optional year) each lasting between 4-6 hours.
  • Participants will receive a stipend at each visit for time and travel.
