Kathryn Madden, ORI IRB Administrator retires
ORI extends its heartfelt gratitude to Kathryn Madden for her remarkable 36 years of service to Oregon Research Institute, including 29 years as our Institutional Review Board (IRB) Administrator!
Kathryn’s dedication to protecting the rights and welfare of human research participants has been instrumental in facilitating ethical and impactful science at ORI. Starting in 1988 in the mailroom and reception, Kathryn’s journey through various roles—Assistant to the Science Director, Library and HR staff, and communications specialist—reflects her adaptability and commitment to ORI’s mission.
As IRB Administrator since 1995, Kathryn has been a cornerstone of our work, helping ORI navigate the complexities of ethical research. Her collaboration with mentors like David Piercy and Ron Chase, both long-standing IRB members, highlights her commitment to excellence and integrity.
Kathryn, your contributions leave a legacy of advancing good science while safeguarding the rights of those who make it possible. Thank you for all you have done; we wish you the very best in your next chapter!
