ORI Welcomes Kasie Josi as the new IRB Administrator

Please join us in welcoming Kasie Josi as the new Institutional Review Board (IRB) Administrator for Oregon Research Institute!

Kasie’s journey into research began after earning her master’s in social work in 2013. She worked as a project coordinator and interventionist, supporting individuals facing challenges such as substance use, housing instability, and mental health conditions. Through this experience, Kasie found her true calling — using her skills to advocate for vulnerable populations and foster meaningful systemic change.

Since joining ORI in 2018, Kasie has worked alongside the Eating Disorders research team and collaborated closely with the IRB. Her experiences reaffirmed her belief in the importance of protecting human subjects in research.

In her words:
“The work of the IRB provides security and protection for human subjects, allowing them to feel safe participating and answering questions honestly, therefore enhancing the validity and impact of our research. I’m honored to step into this role and continue the facilitative, collaborative culture built by Kathryn Madden. I couldn’t be more pleased to begin my tenure as ORI IRB Administrator.”

Congratulations, Kasie! We are confident your leadership and expertise will continue to uphold ORI’s commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of research participants.
