Irin Pimentel-Mannan, Associate Scientist

Irin Pimentel-Mannan, Ph.D. recently joined ORI as a Postdoctoral Scholar.  Irin received her Ph.D. in Prevention Science from the University of Oregon. She has a Master’s in International Studies with a focus on youth education and positive youth development and a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management also from UO.

At ORI, Irin is working half time on the Adolescent Dental project and half time to develop as a scientist through grant writing, papers, and proposals. Irin’s research interests focus on addressing disparities in the education system through culturally responsive and restorative practices, and evidence-based interventions in schools and community settings to promote the health and wellbeing of children and families from historically minoritized communities. She is interested in corrections research as well, to examine the associations between parental incarceration and child mental, behavioral, and academic outcomes.
